Shelli, Ken & Lily_My favorite young family. Two of my life’s closest friends. The three of them are as good as blood when it comes to how close I hold them in my heart. Ken and Shelli have been a couple of the most consistant people in my life for a combined 25+ years.
And the addition of Lily to their family is an addition to my family.
McKay Brown_The dude knows what he’s doing.
He’s deliberate, confident and does things his way. I can learn a lot from his style. From having more fun and really enjoying life and going after things I want. In a lot of ways Golden Season is the start of just that… identifying what’s important to me, who’s important to me and going after it. That said, it’s appropriate McKay was one of the first to join me this season.

Leigh McDaniel_May be the sweetest girl I know. Several sources confirm it.
I can’t think of another person who would appreciate the combination of wine, food and sports more than Leigh, because it happens to be the formula of which her brothers are built.
Although it’s not a game, it’ll be a good time for us to experience the Warriors in a unique way with other season ticket holders.

Stephanie Charlebois_She’s damn good a karaoke.
Seriously… she transforms when you give her a microphone and I have videos to prove it. Stephanie always makes me feel like 100% important every time I run into her at the office and I’m hoping she’ll make our dubs feel the same using her vocal abilities to cheer them to a W against the Clips.

Dharnesh Kaur_She still leaves video magazines on my desk.
We used to be cubicle neighbors. Then she upgraded to an office with natural light. Definitely miss having her around as she was always sweet enough to put up with my very vocal pipe dreaming.
And apparently I didn’t make her sick with all my crazy talk as she still leaves relevant mags on my desk. She’s extremely thoughtful.

Aaron Wiggan_One of the craziest guys I know. But not in a bad way.
When it comes down to having a good time, Aaron just goes after it. And I’m all the better for it when I’m around him. And although he’s in a constant pursuit of a good time, he’s also one of the smartest and most generous people I know… and I know he’ll be extra generous with the beers when the Dubs take on the Trailblazers.

Stephanie Schulz_My former roommate… The girl from Jackson Hole.
Not really, she’s originally from Orange County but chose to study and live in Jackson Hole for a couple years. People tend to move to the sun, but Stephanie’s not like most people. Some how, no matter the situation, she’s always smiling and laughing and making the best of everything… which also makes her great to be around.

Julia DiCerbo_Sports runs through her veins.
I have 100% confidence she could probably out talk and out hustle most dudes when it comes to sports. And although Julia is Philly tough, she’a aslo one of the nicest people you’ll meet.
We haven’t hung out too much, but she’s what I would envision all the best parts of Philly to be.

He is occasionally mistaken for a certain social network CEO, except when he’s wearing his tie-dye. A hippie at heart and that’s alright by me because being around this dude mellows my energy right out, and we all know I need that.

Christin Sperry_We were close from the start.
Don’t ask how, don’t ask why… with some people you just ARE. Christin asked to go to this game specifically, as the timing of it coincides with her birthday which is a few days after. It means a lot to me that she would choose Golden Season as one way to celebrate her birthday.
Happy early birthday, Christin!

Leigh McDaniel_I have her to thank…
For so many things, in particular, in supporting my decision in getting Warrior season tickets.
Everyone knows I’m a dreamer and I always have these crazy ideas; she believes in and stands by all of them. I went through a really tough time year last year and if it wasn’t for her and for everyone on this site and others, I wouldn’t have gotten through it. Leigh being who she is helped me realize that I needed to weave the things and people that were important to me back into my life. She’s the muse that keeps me energized about ‘Golden Season’ and all of my crazy ideas.

Nick Rodgers_He’s kind of a quiet guy
But the strong silent type. I’ve known Nick for years now and he’s always been one really cool dude to hang out with.
Every time I see him he’s up to something cool and creative. Now that we work together, I can witness it on the daily.

There are people who do a lot of little things really well, and there’s Chris who does everything well. Multi-talented and all around nice guy. BTW, did I mention this guy appeared on national television for just the thing we’ll be doing at the game?

Kelly Johnson_So far, the only person to ask me, sorta!
I heard that Kelly caught wind of my Golden Season project and really wanted to go. So, when I ran into her at a going away party I of course extended an invitation. Not only is Kelly great to hang out with, but there’s no way that I could deny that kind of interest and entusiasm.
She’s always been really great to me and I’m excited to finally hang out, and more excited that it’s over a Warriors game.

Monika Sola_We first met in science class sophmore year of high school.
Our first real conversation was Monika asking me how I kept my basketball shoes so clean because she was looking to freshen up some of her sneakers. A pair of clean shoes and 12 years later, we’re both living in SF and still friends.
I couldn’t be happier.

Mike Borja and Kenneth Lin_These are my brothers.
I’ve known these guys forever and they have never done me wrong. Between all the bull out there in the world these guys know me best. Nothing superficial here. Just real… which is why I gave them the hot ticket Miami game.

Chris Vennemeyer_If I went into war, this is the guy I want next to me.
Of course ‘war’ is just a metaphor because Chris is not a fighter. But this guy has been my trusted right hand for the past year and a half and and we’re out for the same things. He believes in me the same way I believe in him, and there’s no other type of person you want with you when you’re going into ‘battle’. One of the most loyal dudes I know.

Chris Cummings_My main man from SF moved back to his native Portland to work on this little brand called Nike.
I’ve lived with this guy twice. He was one of my first friends in San Francisco and then became my best friend in San Francisco. So it’s only natural I visit him in PDX to watch the Warriors break hearts at the Rose Garden.
Jennifer Richardi_The girl has timing.
She doesn’t say too much. She really only says what she needs to say. And when she does say something, it’s pretty damn funny.
Don’t let her petitie stature fool you, she’ll surprise you with her big time wit and jokes. I just hope the joke isn’t on you.
Ben Monk_He’s an elite trainer
It’s true. You can find him on the Nike campus working out the likes of Tiger Woods. He’s the type of guy who’s so insanely fit, but won’t make you feel bad because you’re not. He’s a nice guy who’s just easy and fun to hang out with.
It also might be because he’s an Aussie.

That was a long time ago. We used to patrol the halls of NBC causing trouble and making coffee. Actually, I was the one making the coffee, Greg was always networking.
That’s who he is, he’s a nice dude who is genuinely interested in everyone.

Spencer Lew_I knew him when he was a kid.
Now he’s become his own man and about to graduate from college in another year.
He’s a great reminder that I’m getting old and that there are still Kings fans in the bay.

Hiep Nguyen_Who else better to go to a Christmas Day game with other than my pops.
The holidays in my house growing up always involved some type of sports on TV be it football on Thanksgiving or basketball on Christmas Day. This year we can go to the real thing.
I hope this is just the start of a Christmas Day tradition.

Andy Nguyen_My brother in law and one hell of a father to my niece.
I love it when people surprise you. It’s nice. I really put my guard up with andy early on because of all the times my sister’s been burned by boyfriends in the past and it really wasn’t until their wedding day did I really believe in what he could be and what he is. He’s a great man and I’m proud to call him a brother and even happier that he’s my sister’s husband and my nieces father. If Mimi still worked at AllState this would be ‘clever’… but I’m going to say it anyway because it still works… Mimi and Mia, they’re “In good hands”.

Antoinette Cao_We pretty much lost touch for 7 or 8 years.
We were really close in high school and once college came around I thought it did us in. How did we rekindle our friendship? Funny enough…high school… I ended up going back to work there and she used to call me to ask me what it was like. I’m no longer there, but she is.
Because of our history, she’s knows the best parts about me and the worst. And somehow I’ve always been important to her… feelings mutual.

Ken Lin_Warriors rookie PG, Jeremy, is his cousin.
Actually he’s not, they just have the same last name. Apparently it’s just as common as Nguyen or something. All that really means is that Ken has a really easy time picking out which Warriors jersey to buy.
One of my best friends. Hands down. You cross him, you cross me… but no has ever had a reason to… Ken wouldn’t hurt a fly.

Sarah Purdy_My prom date from high school.
Sarah did me a HUGE favor by asking me to prom. Believe it or not, I was crazy shy in high school and she was kind enough to save me the anxiety of asking her. We always have our fair share of weighted conversation when we get together and she has one of the most honest perspectives that always appreciate.
17 | MON – 1:00 vs New Jersey
Pam Campanaro_Everyone thinks her roommates are from Jersey, but she actually is.
If you add up all the time that we’ve actually exchanged words with one another, it’d be around 10 minutes…a really fun 10 minutes. Going to a Warriors game will at least give us at least 200 minutes more…. and hopefully that’s just the start of unlimited ’person to person’ minutes… yes… I was reaching for a cell phone plan reference.

Cassie Vance_I’m guranteed to see her 5 times a week.
We sit right next to each other and somehow she’s able put up with all my nonsense.
Cassie grew up going to Nugget games with her pops and is one of the few women I know that know who Dikembe Mutombo is… gangsta. All the Denver games were snagged before she could lock in a date, but I just found out that the Indiana squad also holds a special place in her heart for a really awesome reason. I’ll save it for the blog post, but already Golden Season has done what I had hoped… it brought me closer to Cassie.

Johanna Poch_I don’t really know THAT much about Johanna.
But from what I do know I like a lot. I usually see her in the elevator and of course that means conversations are brief, but they are always genuine and kind. I look forward to getting to know Johanna better when the Warriors beat the Kings… sorry, meet… meet the Kings.

Michelle Flatley_She sold me on San Francisco.
I was living and working in San Jose and Michelle had been in San Francisco for about a year. I met her up one evening for dinner after a meeting and I was sold on San Francisco as my next home. Soon after, I made my move to Goodby, Silverstein & Partners and thus began one of my favorite personal San Francisco traditions…dinners with Michelle and Monika.
26 | WED – 7:30 vs New Orleans
Mark Kantor_replace that spray can with a Wacom tablet.
Why? Because he’s the founder of everyone’s original favorite Facebook application, Graffiti. Mark’s always on the hustle and always developing new and interesting things that will all hopefully make our digital lives a little more exciting and easier.
Plus he likes to make out with giant fish… then cook them and have them for dinner.

Yiming Roberts_I may not see her every day at work anymore, but I’m glad we’re still in touch.
It’s really easy to work somewhere where you get along with the people you see every day. Yiming, was one of those people that I really enjoyed running into at the office. Since we had lots of the same interests it was rare that we talked about work, which is rare within itself.
She’s at a new agency now, but I do look forward to the few times we make an effort to hang out. I’m excited that a Warriors game will give us a reason to get together and catch up.

Jamie Barrett_A basketball cultural legend.
In the eighth grade I saw these two commercials, “Frozen Moments” and “9000 Shots“. After that, basketball was never the same. It was not just a sport. It was poetry in motion. It was artful. It was undescribable. It was life. Every guy and girl I hooped with growing up felt the same. Because of those two commercials, I dreamed bigger, failed harder and still have my Jordan 12s. Thank you, Jamie.
10 years later, I’m working in the same building as the man himself and got to personally witness the life of, “Where Amazing Happens” and “There Can Only Be One“… again, Jamie’s responsible, and his art’s influence is arguably greater.
It truly is an honor to have him be part of Golden Season.
5 | SAT – 7:30 vs Chicago
Peter Boumenot_I can never tell if he’s serious or just messing with me.
The fact that he also happens to know everything about anything makes him one of the most interesting people I know. With razor sharp wit and the driest sense of humor, I would advise that you not get in any type of debate with the guy. Because you will lose. But you might win… only because he will let you… because he’s a really nice guy. He now lives in LA and has an iPhone 4 ask him about it, but remember what I told you.
7 | MON – 7:30 vs Phoenix
Will Lewis_He gets excited about everything.
And it’s contagious. I have never been around Will when he was not completely curious or genuinely interesting in the topic at hand. He’s usually the listener whenever I’ve met Will, that’s because the guy’s extremely selfless. I’ve met very few who’ve loved their wife more (Heather – 2/9 vs New Orleans) and is not afraid to show it.
I could definitely use some time to get to know Will better and some one-on-one at a Warriors game gives us the best opportunity to do so.

Stewart Downey_We met at a wedding.
I was shooting Dani and David’s wedding and toward the end of the night Stewart approached me about shooting weddings. That 3 minute conversation resulted in Stewart joining my team here at GSP. Now we work within arms length of each other… we really need to move into a new building SOON.
Thankfully, he’s one of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet and is one of the most modest and humble guys I have the privilege of knowing.

Heather Lewis_Proof that big things come in small packages.
She may barely be all of 5 feet and change but she’s a force to be reckoned with. Wether it’s kickball, work or I even pictionary, Heather will always be in it to win it. She’s someone you want on your team, and thankfully she’s usually on mine.
22 | TUE – 7:30 vs Boston
Gareth Kay_He was there when the Sox and the Celtics won championships.
Which explains why I approached him about the Celtics game, because there’s no one I could think of that would enjoy this game more than Gareth. I followed his blog and thinking before he came to GSP as he’s one of the most respected strategists in the biz and I’m looking forward to getting to know him beyond the agency environment.

Scott Anderson_Mr. East Bay.
He may live in San Francisco, but his roots and what made him who he is today remain deep in the East Bay. Born and raised in Orinda and a Cal Alumni it makes all the sense in the world. He’s one of the most loyal guys I know and and will have your back no matter what. But his most admirable quality of all is that he’ll always give it to you honest and straight, even if you don’t want to hear it. But what he knows is that you need to hear it weather you like it or not… he gets me out of my own way.

Phoung ‘Pop Secret’ Le_For the Cause
One of the Founders and frontmen of one of my dance crew. Phoung aka Lee, is made up of nothing but creative bones. He’ll dance circles around you, art direct the hell out of candid snapshots and even Golden Season, all while VOLUNTEERING his time… A super generous guy with an extraordinary amount of talent.
Curtis Steckel_is always down. 
I met Curtis through Lee and he rounded out the Golden Season design dream team. Curtis and Lee have been supporters of Golden Season from the start and we all have become great friends through the process. In every aspect, Golden Season is delivering on the hope that through this journey with the Warriors, I’ll also meet great people along the way. Curtis and Lee are two of those great people.
